CrossFit MCAS Yuma was started by Sgt Jason Gipper and Cpl John Underwood on Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in 2009. It was a non-profit organization; not associated with the Department of Defense, the United States Marine Corps, or MCAS Yuma. It was the beginning of something great. The Marines were introduced to the idea of functional fitness, health and wellness through CrossFit programming. Their goal was to educate and physically train the Marines and family members aboard Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in the CrossFit methodology.
Physical performance is going to be documented and based off a series of movements and a total overall power output. This is not a bodybuilding program or a “look good at the beach in a week” program. We are more interested in developing you as a healthy “athlete”. Do not let the word “athlete” confuse or scare you. This program can easily be scaled to work for all. Along with the physical training that will be done, we can also give guidance on changes that can be made in your daily lives to improve your nutrition and wellbeing.
This program is NOT for everyone. Some may not feel comfortable with the intensity while others will realize, through their own achievements, how this program can help them improve. The daily workout will be posted on the main site.
